A little bit of trivia

So for any of you who happened to pick up an exponent this week, you probably skipped to the good stuff, such as the "Ask Time Traveling Sherlock (from the past)" He is like the male version of dear Abby for our school. His most recent inquiry was from an Andy K. and it said:

"Dear Sherlock, I went to Butte for Saint Patrick's Day over spring break, and i somehow woke up in the middle of campus back in Bozeman, without shoes, a shirt or much of my dignity. All I had in my pockets was a quarter, a piece of paper with a number on it, and what I'm guessing was an old man's prosthetic finger. Is there any way to figure out what happened to me that night?"

Now I'm no Sherlock, but there is a certain book from class that this made me think of, how about you? Perhaps this Andy K. could read it find enlightenment.

P.S. if you cant make the connection you should probably drop the class sorry :(

Shakespeare: A love hate relationship

The Tempest, By William Shakespeare

Generally I liked this play, even though it is something I will hopefully, never have to read again in my life. I despise reading Shakespeare. He makes no sense, his characters are dull, and his humor is lacking. Yes I HATE READING SHAKESPEARE!

I love Shakespeare! All of his plays are epic and thoroughly entertaining. Each summer I try to go to Shakespeare in the Parks as often as I can! His words are soulful, his imagery is outstanding, and his humor is knee-slappable.

How is it that something so horrible can be so good? When I watch actors and actresses give life to the characters that are hidden within the depths of the monotonous text, I am always amazed. The characters become dynamic and it is so easy for me to understand what is going on. I know that the voice inflection and seeing the stage directions being acted out are the reasons for my understanding but still. Utter amazement!!

Matrix

Hmmmm what is the Matrix you ask? Well that's a tricky one. Since I am a terrible arguer when it comes to things that circulate back to the original question I shall simply state, I do not know. But since no one is here to fight back at what I say, I believe I shall go on!

The Matrix. In the movie it is explained as a false reality that A.I. created, essentially taking over our world with its virtualistic one. But since humans created the A.I. that created the Matrix, then wasn't it actually the humans that trapped themselves in this unknown state of being? Well I guess this doesn't even matter all that much, one way or another, the A.I. took over and put humanity into this contraption. Back to the Matrix, is it reality? Why not. Obviously it simulates the real world in all the ways that we know and understand to be real, so why not accept this as reality. Or how about one version of reality? Who's to say that it isn't real. If your mind is convinced everything around it is real why can't it be real? If our minds are what make us creatures of reason and are our reason for existence, I don't see why this can't be a reality that will suffice the needs of a human being. Since you can both live and die in the Matrix I think it is safe to say who cares. You still have your "free will", there are killers and teachers and everything else in between, so whats the problem... so what if machines are feeding off of your body, if your mind is happy shouldn't you be?
I understand the whole moral aspect of living in truth and wanting to know what is reality, but technically if you never learned about it, then would it still be real? Like when Neo is struggling with the truth, he would never of had to go through that if he had just been left alone, blissfully ignorant in the Matrix, living his dual life with no care whether it was real or not.
Hmmm I guess the Matrix is what you make it to be... if you do not believe that you are really here, that this life is a false one that is your choice. Personally, I believe that this is my temporary reality, for it could change in the blink of an eye, so I shall enjoy it while I can, and not question its existence. But if other information arises that makes me question this as a reality, I will reserve the right to change my mind without question.

Fiction: truth or lies?

The first time that I watched Stranger Than Fiction, I had no idea what was going on, the only thing I was sure of was that whoever wrote it was on crack. But like any fool I watched the terrible movie again, and low and behold I liked it. Why? I don't know. What changed? I have no idea, but for some reason, it just made sense.

I have not made it all the way through Beckett's stories, let alone gone through them more than once, so I have a feeling that even if I tried, really hard, I would never make a change to liking it like I did with this lower brow movie.

In both of these works, there are constant reminders that these are works of fiction. These elements push the reader/viewer out of the story in order to create an unsettling awareness of the goings-on that they are viewing are fake.

Finnalist

Ok so we were supposed to find a list in Finnegan's Wake, and I think I found one on page 123. oh nice I didnt even notice the page before this. Anyway I belive it is a list or catalog of different books or people or places or things... I can't even pretend to understand any or all that it says.

ment (his dectroscophonious photosensition under suprasonic

Better late than never right...

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

*sigh* well I am way behind in my blogging so I am planning on making an afternoon of it!! I have my songlist selected (a variety of Shania Twain, Michel Buble, Mamma Mia, Seven Bride for Seven Brothers Soundtrack, and a few randomly good songs), I have my writing buddy Chexy next to me on her chair...

Chexy

And my embroidery to take up the time when I really have to think about what I want to write...

This was my last project....
This is what I am currently working on....

Here we go!!!

So after Groundhog's Day when Mr. Sexson told us that he had wanted us to dig deeper and convey our thoughts rather than our day, I took some notes from two days after Groundhog's Day.

Here's something for you to keep in mind about my mind... there is ALWAYS a song stuck in my head... twice in my life I have had moments where there was silence, once when I was walking down the hall in my highschool, during class, when I was all alone; and once when I was sitting on the couch. So you may see song titles thoughout this, do not be alarmed, this is just how it would be if you were in my mind.

That morning, I woke up ("Peanut Butter Jelly Time" "PBJT" from family guy) thinking about death. One year ago that day, a girl I had gone to school with since first grade passed away. I don't deal with death well. It is so incomprehensible to me that it overwhelms my mind and freaks me out. I dont know if it is a good thing or not, but I have not had to deal with many deaths that directly effected me, when I was in first grade my Grandma Martha passed away. That was really awful. Then in fifth grade my dog Otis died, two Halloween's ago my cat Cheerios passed away. That is really all I have had to deal with,(other than the occaisional fish) so for the most part I try to ignore the thought. But here it is rearing its ugly head. So many thoughts pass through my mind it is hard to hold on to one long enough to make any sense of anything. Disbelief, sadness, hope, fear, and of course WHY? Even now, analyzing this thoughts, I only come up with NOTHING. (PBJT)

After I hit this wall AGAIN, I forced the thought from my mind and went about my day. As I got ready I spent the morning having a conversation with Chexy who is the loudest, most talkative cat ever!! We discussed why she had to follow me from room to room. Now I am not one of those crazy cat ladies, but yes I do talk to my animals b/c they are a part of my family. Anyway, before I knew it, I was in the passenger seat of the suburban with my mom behind the wheel. We carpool to save the environment.... HA no, I just didnt want to drive. As I pulled my shoes on, and had to tie them, I relived my hatred for tying shoes. Later that day venting my hatred to a friend as I was forced to tie the left shoe over again Grrr. (PBJT)

Running late for class I rushed to Wilson hall for my first class, smiling as I inwardly danced to Them Sobbin Women from 7B47B. I arrived just in the nick of time!! Yay for my spot being open!! usually there is someone who tries to steal my perfect seat. In the corner and in the back... it gives me the perfect vantage point over the whole room and keeps me far enough from everyone that I don't get crowded or cranky. Class starts, fear settles in as I have not done the reading... again. Frantically I search the pages in hopes of something I can twist to sound intelligent. But all I get is PBJT. Oh well I just wont talk. Instead I spent the time as I frequently do, DONT LAUGH!!! I imagine the people around me in the time period clothes that they should have been born in. Lame I know, and yet your curious, what is your era? well for laughing you will now never know!! So here are some examples:

Mr. Sexson: The early 1800's

Mr. Leubner: 1920's paperboy style

Well you get the idea. I am stil unsure as to my era, but I am working on it. (So now thinking of outfits, the song from Pride and Predjudice enters my mind, from the new one, even thought the 1995 one is better.)

Class ends and now I have an hour to do nothing... crap I have to read for tomorrow's class, off to the library. Ugh I hate the fact that they moved the videos from the basement, it used to be like a treasure hunt finding the right one. Now it is out in the open like everything else. I sit down at the far table on the right on Clowder Flats (tee hee hee i thought it was chowder til this year) so that I can watch people walk by outside of the unpassable doors. What a waste. "The Coming Race" one of the first science fiction novels EVER! And as he makes his way through the story, Idiana Jones theme song makes its way into my mind. Ahhh I love love stories, until they are ruined and the people never see eachother again. the end. Aww what a good book! Ugh temp pour francais.

I climb the stairs in reid imagining that I am Indie making my way up an ancient temple to save all mankind. I failed. oh well I will try again tomorrow. Bonjour mon amies, ca va? Je suis tres mal :( je ne veux pas aller au francais, parce que la salle de classe est trop petite et les discours de professeur aussi rapidement. Oui. There is no time left for thinking in French class. It is just direct objects, and nouns and verbs and other things I dont understand. And the clock... OH THAT CLOCK. It is the only classroom that I am in that has a clock, and it just sits there watching me (tee hee hee watching me) and going slower just to make me mad! tick....tock......tick...........tock........................tic..k............to...ck.....
You get it right? That thing is gonna kill me.

OH Thank God its time to go!!!! even though the teacher kept us 4 minutes late... I hate being kept late when I have somewhere to be. I receive a text from Alyssa (my BSFF it wouldnt be entertaining to you so i will just giggle to myself about the inside joke... oh no I lost the game.) asking if we are gonna get lunch together, I respond with an "ok if we must" giggling again on the inside. (Spira Dota by bass hunter) So yet again I make my way to class with a dorky smile tugging at my lips as i recall the tale of the tale of BSFF. Wilson, what a funky smelling hall. People refusing to use the right doors to exit a building run into me. Keep right, Keep moving. Did noone else learn this in KINDERGARTEN!?!?!? Grrr if only I had the nerve to trip them... but then again that would be mean, but I am late for class, and I just came from french, and they didnt use their door, I think I have the right to be mean! YEAH! Darn they are already walking away. I'll get'em next time.

Ugh room 115. I feel like I am in a shrunken room in Alice In Wonderland. I squish myself into my seat. aim forward, while a stream of inappropriate words flows through my mind because of the room. I am not a fish person, and I really hate feeling like one... well except when I do the fish face thing... but grr. Kelsey and I greet one another, recount events from the day and such (I have to go to work after lunch and I just recently realized that someone I work with looks like the main guy in Nightmare B/4 Xmas. Cue main song from that.) and then class begins. Tee hee hee Mr. Sexson should have a top hat and a cane, one with an amber topper... with a mosquito in it.. hee then he could bring back dinosaurs, but in an evil genius kind of way... like using dinos to force people to read Finnegan's Wake Mwhahahahaha with that kind of power he could definately take over the world!
Whilst musing about that, I listened to the class. (Pride and Prejudice song) Although with my gerbil like attention, I soon began sketching ideas for my Virginia City dress. Yeah I'm a reinactment junky. My friends and I go to Virginia City twice each summer to attend a Civil War reinactment ball. You know southern bell dresses and all that jazz. And of course we make our own dresses, people who dont are just wimps.

Here we are last August!!

Well the dress I have in mind is going to be these colors:

And will be completely different from last years dress. I am going to slut it up so to say, but in Victorian terms I would be using colors to rich for a young lady such as myself. Oops class is done, what was that last thing that was mentioned...? oh well, class is over by 3 or 4 minutes, but I dont mind, for I am off to lunch with Alyssa and my mom at the sub, yet again.

Well I think that is enough to compensate for my lack of info from my last blog, so yeah. Like I have been told many times I suck at endings therefore I will use my sure ender.

THE END

The Four Starquartreks!

After reading through The Four Quartets and thinking about The Inner Light episode of Star Trek, something on page 14 had me a pondering....

"The surface glittered out of heart of light,
And they were behind us, reflected in the pool.
Then a cloud passed, and the pool was empty."

This is the part where the pool is empty, yet full of meaning. It made me think of the ending message that the Kataanians leave for the Captain. From this empty world,
the fleeting memories (moments of heart of light)of the Kataanians will live forever in the depths of the Captain's mind... well that and the flute. But more importantly the Captain's mind!

"Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door never opened
Into the rose-garden. My words echo
Thus, in your mind."

Footfalls... echo... memory.....

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Flute!
The flute echoes the memory of the life that the Captain never really lived.
